Dr. Chu,Tang-Yuan was the director of Graduate Institute of Medical Sciences of National Defense Medical Center, and the Founder and Director of Institute of Clinical Medicine and Institute of Medical Sciences in Tzu Chi University. His research focuses in the developmental mechanism of cervical cancer and ovarian high-grade serous carcinoma and the clinical applications. Special effort was paid on the role of stromal sex-hormone receptors in the development of cervical cancer, and the initiation and promotion of HGSC originating in the fallopian tube epithelium. His research team has discovered the multiple carcinogenic roles of ovulation and retrograde menstruation contributing the mutagenesis, clonal expansion and transformation of fallopian tube epithelial cells in the context of p53/Rb loss. With the in-vitro and in-vivo study systems as well as clinical cohorts and tissue banking, his team is also developing drugs for chemoprevention and biomarkers for early detection of these two cancers.
